Scholarships

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics - AIAA
The AIAA Foundation funds a number of scholarships to both undergraduate and graduate students.
The undergraduate program offers 30 scholarships of $2,000 – $2,500 to one or more college sophomores, juniors, and seniors each year. Students also have the opportunity to renew the scholarship annually until they graduate. The graduate program offers ten awards worth $5,000 each and four awards of $10,000 annually. Aviation Education Foundation of Colorado
Sponsored and organized by EAA Chapter 72, Meadow Lake. Scholarship for kids who want a career in aviation to get a pilots license.

Colorado 99s
The purpose of this scholarship is to assist female pilots in completing their Private Pilot certificates. The award can not be applied to any other flight time or training for any other rating.
Applicants must -

  • be female
  • reside in Colorado
  • currently hold a Student Pilot certificate
  • have already soloed
  • have logged at least 10 hours of flight time
  • be taking flight instruction in Colorado

Colorado Flight Safety Foundation
To recognize and assist high school graduates who have demonstrated ability and dedication and who have a strong interest in an aviation career. Applicant must be attending one of four Colorado public institutions in an aviation-related program. Scholarship is up to $2000 each year to one or more applicants.

EAA Scholarship Program
EAA's Scholarship Program encourages, recognizes and supports excellence among those studying the technologies and the skills of aviation. These annual scholarships help outstanding students, who demonstrate financial need, to accomplish their goals. Scholarship applicants must be involved in school and community activities as well as aviation activities.

Whirly Girls
Whirly Girls is a non-profit, educational and charitable organization dedicated to advancing women in helicopter aviation. The organization awards several different scholarships valued in excess of $40,000.

Internships

EAA - Internships and Work Study Programs
LIke the EAA Scholarship program, the EAA summer Internship program also encourages and recognizes individuals pursuing aviation education. If selected, you'll spend your summer in Oshkosh, WI in support of the EAA Air Academy and other EAA activities. Duties for interns may range from assisting in research and filing in the Boeing Aeronautical LIbrary to moving and securing aircraft and minor maintenance of buildings, ground and aircraft. Check the EAA internship website for details and the most current information. Please carefully read the description and requirements for each individual internship/work study program. AOPA Air Safety Foundation Internships
The AOPA Air Safety Foundation (ASF) is the largest and most active non-profit organization in the US, conducting aviation safety education and research for the general aviation community. The ASF internship is an excellent opportuniyt to gain valuable aviation safety work experience.In addition to hourly pay, a generous stipend to cover the costs of moving, housing and/or flight proficiency is provided. Successful interns will be interviewed for continued and/or future employment prior to departure. Send a cover letter, resume, transcript and a writing sample to hr@aopa.org .
